Estonian defense technology company Defsecintel Solutions and Estonian-Ukrainian DoD Solution will integrate Defsecintel's EIRSHIELD counter-UAS platform with DoD Solution's AURA artificial intelligence autonomy technology. The companies signed the cooperation agreement at MSPO 2026 in Kielce, Poland, on September 9 and plan joint testing in Estonia, Ukraine and other European countries.

The project aims to connect multi-layer drone detection and command-and-control with onboard autonomous navigation, tracking and terminal guidance. The companies are targeting defense missions as well as border security and critical infrastructure protection.

## EIRSHIELD will connect detection with AURA autonomy

Defsecintel will provide EIRSHIELD, its integrated counter-unmanned aircraft system designed to combine multiple sensors, command-and-control software and effectors within an open architecture.

The platform can integrate radar, radio-frequency and electro-optical or infrared sensors to detect, identify and track unmanned aircraft. Defsecintel says EIRSHIELD can also connect electronic and kinetic effectors depending on the configuration.

DoD Solution will add its AURA single-board computer and AURA AI autonomy platform.

AURA provides onboard computing for autonomous navigation, perception, target recognition, tracking and terminal guidance. The technology is designed to perform those functions onboard an unmanned platform rather than depending continuously on external processing.

That distinction becomes particularly relevant when satellite navigation or communications are degraded.

DoD Solution says AURA supports visual navigation and autonomous mission execution in GPS-denied and communication-constrained environments. The company positions the platform as an integration layer that unmanned-system manufacturers can combine with different sensors, communications equipment and mission software.

The cooperation therefore links two different sections of the counter-drone chain. EIRSHIELD provides detection and command functions, while AURA can provide onboard autonomy for unmanned platforms used during the response.

## Estonia and Ukraine will host counter-drone testing

Defsecintel and DoD Solution plan to conduct joint testing and technology demonstrations in Estonia, Ukraine and elsewhere in Europe.

The companies have not disclosed a schedule for those trials or identified specific interceptor platforms that will carry AURA under the cooperation.

They also have not announced a procurement contract associated with the agreement. The partnership establishes a framework for technology integration, demonstrations, potential deployments and joint participation in future tenders and defense programs.

Ukraine is particularly relevant to the development effort because electronic warfare has made reliable navigation and communications a central challenge for unmanned systems.

DoD Solution describes itself as an Estonian-Ukrainian defense technology company and develops onboard computing and autonomy systems for unmanned platforms. Its technology development draws on cooperation with Ukrainian military units and unmanned-system operators.

Defsecintel has similarly incorporated operational experience from Ukraine into the development of EIRSHIELD. The Estonian company has also tested its counter-UAS technology during NATO exercises.

## Onboard AI is moving into the interceptor layer

The Defsecintel partnership follows another agreement announced by DoD Solution in August.

DoD Solution and Netherlands-based artificial intelligence semiconductor company Axelera AI agreed to explore higher-performance onboard AI computing for autonomous defense systems.

The initial work focuses on high-speed interceptor applications. DoD Solution plans to integrate Axelera AI's Metis M.2 accelerator into its AURA computing architecture to increase onboard processing capacity for target recognition, tracking, sensor fusion and autonomous guidance.

That cooperation addresses one of the technical constraints facing autonomous interceptors.

An interceptor operating against a moving aerial target may need to process sensor information, recognize and track the target and continuously adjust its trajectory. Performing those functions onboard reduces dependence on a persistent external data connection, although the exact level of autonomy depends on system configuration and mission requirements.

DoD Solution's cooperation with Defsecintel moves that concept one step further by connecting onboard autonomy to an existing multi-sensor counter-UAS architecture.

It does not, however, create a fully autonomous operational counter-drone system by itself. Integration, testing, rules governing engagement and the selection of specific effectors remain necessary before a combined configuration can enter operational use.

## Estonia's counter-UAS sector is building around open integration

The agreement also fits a broader pattern within Estonia's growing counter-drone industry.

Defsecintel has positioned EIRSHIELD as an open system capable of integrating technologies from different manufacturers rather than tying users to one sensor or effector supplier.

In 2025, the company partnered with Latvia's Origin Robotics to integrate interceptor technology into the wider Baltic Drone Wall concept.

The company has since expanded its partnerships as European governments increase investment in counter-UAS systems for military bases, borders and critical infrastructure.

The DoD Solution agreement adds onboard autonomy to that integration strategy.

For smaller European defense technology companies, open architectures can also provide an alternative route into larger defense programs. Individual companies do not need to manufacture every component of a counter-UAS kill chain if their sensors, command systems, effectors and autonomous platforms can exchange data and operate together.

## Counter-drone AI integration: Key questions

### What are Defsecintel and DoD Solution developing?

The companies plan to integrate Defsecintel's EIRSHIELD counter-UAS platform with DoD Solution's AURA AI autonomy platform and onboard computer. The objective is to connect drone detection and command-and-control with autonomous navigation, tracking and interception technologies.

### What does AURA AI do?

AURA provides onboard computing and software for unmanned systems. DoD Solution says it supports visual navigation, perception, target recognition, tracking, terminal guidance and autonomous mission execution, including in GPS-denied and communications-constrained environments.

### Where will the integrated counter-drone technology be tested?

The companies plan testing and demonstrations in Estonia, Ukraine and other European countries. They have not disclosed a detailed test schedule.

### Has a military customer ordered the combined system?

No procurement contract for the integrated configuration has been announced. The September 9 agreement covers cooperation, integration, testing, demonstrations and potential future participation in tenders and defense programs.
