# DoD Solution Raises $2.1M Pre-Seed for AURA AI Drone Autonomy

Estonian-Ukrainian defense technology company DoD Solution has raised $2.1 million in a pre-seed round to expand AURA AI, its onboard autonomy platform for unmanned systems. The company announced the financing on September 28, naming investors from Ukraine, Europe and the United States, with Canadian drone manufacturer Draganfly Inc. joining as a strategic investor. DoD Solution plans to expand AURA AI’s capabilities, integrate it into more unmanned platforms and accelerate deployments in Ukraine and other markets. 

## Investors back a platform for multiple drone types

The round includes Angel One Fund, Better Angle, Defence Builder Fund, Network VC, Newfund, UAID Fund, WildField Ventures and 4C Next Holding AG, as well as individual angel investors. DoD Solution did not disclose a lead investor, its valuation or the size of each participant’s commitment. 

Draganfly’s participation adds a drone manufacturer to the investor group. The announcement identifies Draganfly as a strategic investor but does not specify an AURA AI integration with a Draganfly aircraft or announce a procurement contract.

[Angel One Fund disclosed its investment in DoD Solution in April](https://www.angelone.fund/angel-one-fund-investments-three-ukrainian-startups/?ref=adriadefense.com), identifying onboard computing and autonomy software as the company’s development priorities. That earlier disclosure is part of the funding history; it should not be counted as another $2.1 million round. 

## AURA AI combines onboard computing with autonomy software

AURA AI pairs an onboard computer with software for visual navigation, perception, target recognition, tracking and terminal guidance. DoD Solution says the system is designed to perform these tasks on the unmanned platform when satellite navigation is unavailable or communications with an operator are constrained. 

Processing camera and sensor data onboard can reduce reliance on an uninterrupted external link. The degree of autonomy still depends on the aircraft, sensors, integration and mission configuration.

DoD Solution is working across FPV drones, fixed-wing aircraft and interceptor systems. In July, US-based [Lantronix announced](https://www.lantronix.com/newsroom/press-releases/lantronix-announces-dod-solution-partnership-to-deploy-edge-ai-drone-platform-in-ukraine/?ref=adriadefense.com) that its Qualcomm-based Open-Q 6490CS computing platform had been integrated with AURA AI. Lantronix said initial production under that collaboration was underway at the time, but did not disclose a unit count or contract value. 

The funding also follows [DoD Solution’s agreement with Estonia’s Defsecintel Solutions](https://www.adriadefense.com/defsecintel-dod-solution-link-ai-to-counter-drone-systems/), which AdriaDefense covered earlier in September. The companies plan to connect AURA AI with Defsecintel’s EIRSHIELD counter-drone platform for joint testing and demonstrations. No customer order for a combined system has been announced.

The next measurable steps will be broader integrations with unmanned-platform manufacturers and evidence of deployments beyond DoD Solution’s existing work in Ukraine. The company has not disclosed a timetable or production volume tied to the new financing.
