Hamburg-based investment firm DTCP announced the first close of its defense technology fund on September 24, securing **€455 million in investor commitments**. Deutsche Telekom, Porsche SE, Denmark’s EIFO and Danica, and Estonia’s SmartCap are among its backers. The figure represents commitments to the fund, not money already invested in defense companies.

The announcement advances a fund [AdriaDefense covered in January](https://www.adriadefense.com/dtcp-launches-eu500m-project-liberty-fund-to-scale-european-defence-tech), when DTCP set a **€500 million target**. That earlier figure was the planned fund size. The newly announced €455 million is the amount committed at its first close; DTCP has not described it as a final close.

DTCP Defence Fund I will primarily invest in European companies developing artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cyber defense, secure communications and space technologies. It can also invest selectively in companies from NATO member states and close allies when their technology supports European defense requirements or supply chains. DTCP said its current strategy places particular emphasis on Series B and later financing rounds.

The fund has already invested in **Six Robotics** of Norway and **Kraken Technology Group** of the United Kingdom. Six Robotics develops software for coordinating unmanned systems; DTCP invested €10 million in its €12 million financing round announced in June.

DTCP also led Kraken’s $175 million financing round in July, backing the company’s uncrewed maritime platforms. Those round totals should not be read as DTCP’s individual investment in both companies.

Estonia’s SmartCap gives the fund a direct investor connection to Central and Eastern Europe. DTCP has not announced an investment from this fund in an Estonian or other CEE defense company. Its first disclosed investments show a focus on unmanned systems, while the new capital commitments give it capacity to pursue further deals across its wider technology mandate.

DTCP said Ole Aguirre and Georgia Watson lead its dedicated defense investment team. The firm also plans an office in Copenhagen in 2027 to strengthen its links with Nordic defense technology companies.
