**Norwegian defense technology group KONGSBERG announced on October 13, 2026, that it will invest more than PLN 200 million (€45 million) in a new manufacturing facility in northern Poland, expanding its European production capacity for counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).**

The facility will be located in Poland's Pomeranian region, near the Gdańsk–Gdynia–Sopot metropolitan area. It is expected to create more than 100 permanent jobs once fully operational, with serial production targeted for the first half of 2028\. The exact site has not yet been disclosed.

The investment supports Poland's SAN counter-drone program, under which KONGSBERG and Polish defense group Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) signed a major contract with the Polish Armaments Agency in January 2026\. The agreement, valued at approximately NOK 16 billion for KONGSBERG, covers 18 counter-drone batteries.

The SAN architecture combines multiple layers of protection, including guns, guided missiles and drone interceptors. Polish technology company Advanced Protection Systems (APS) contributes the command-and-control architecture connecting sensors and effectors.

KONGSBERG President and CEO Eirik Lie said the new facility would strengthen the company's Polish industrial presence while serving future European customers through its international production network.

KONGSBERG expects to conclude the construction contract before the end of 2026, with construction starting afterward.

The project builds on more than 15 years of KONGSBERG's activities in Poland, including its existing Naval Strike Missile maintenance partnership with Polish industry.
