# PBS GROUP Tests First US-Assembled TJ40 Jet Engines

Czech aerospace manufacturer **PBS GROUP** has successfully tested its first jet engines finalized in the United States, marking an initial step toward localized US production. The company tested PBS TJ40 engines in Florida and plans to invest CZK 480 million in expanding its American manufacturing operations.

The engines tested in the United States used components manufactured in the Czech Republic at PBS GROUP's operations in Velká Bíteš. Final assembly and testing took place in the United States, with tests focused on engine performance, reliability and safety.

PBS GROUP plans to extend the US testing program beyond the TJ40\. The company identified the higher-thrust PBS TJ80, TJ100 and TJ150 families as the next engines scheduled to undergo testing in the country.

The expansion is particularly relevant to the defense market because PBS turbojet engines support applications including missiles, target drones, high-speed unmanned aerial vehicles and combat UAVs. The company already operates in the United States through its subsidiary PBS Aerospace.

PBS is now working to establish the manufacturing infrastructure and supply chain needed to produce engine components in the United States. Its stated objective is to fully assemble and test engines using US-manufactured components during 2025.

The CZK 480 million investment would move PBS beyond final assembly and testing toward a more localized American manufacturing model. The company has also indicated that it has longstanding agreements with US customers for jet engine production, although it has not identified those customers or associated defense programs.

For PBS GROUP, the US expansion creates manufacturing capacity closer to customers in one of the world's largest defense and aerospace markets while retaining its established engineering and production base in the Czech Republic.

The December testing therefore represents the first operational step in a broader localization strategy. The next phase will center on establishing a US component supply chain and expanding testing from the TJ40 to the TJ80, TJ100 and TJ150 engine families during the company's planned production buildup.
