**Polish defense industry company PONAR Wadowice and Greek military vehicle manufacturer ELVO 2020 have signed a cooperation agreement, potentially opening new opportunities for European defense production and the Polish-Ukrainian Bohdana artillery program.**

Poland's [PONAR Wadowice](https://www.ponar-wadowice.pl/?ref=adriadefense.com) and Greece's [ELVO 2020](https://elvo.gr/?ref=adriadefense.com) announced on October 20 that they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for technological and industrial cooperation between the two defense manufacturers.

The agreement brings together PONAR's expertise in advanced hydraulic systems and ELVO's military vehicle manufacturing, integration and maintenance capabilities. The companies intend to explore opportunities within European defense supply chains, although no specific production contract or financial terms were disclosed.

PONAR specializes in hydraulic components used in military and industrial platforms, including gun recoil systems, track tensioning mechanisms, platform stabilization equipment, radar leveling systems and hydropneumatic suspensions.

## Potential Role in Ukraine's Bohdana Artillery Program

One potential area of cooperation involves PK MIL, a Polish-Ukrainian joint venture established by PONAR Wadowice and Ukraine's Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Building Plant.

The joint venture aims to establish production in Poland of NATO-standard 155 mm artillery systems, particularly the Ukrainian-developed Bohdana self-propelled howitzer, which has been deployed by Ukrainian forces.

Jacek Zygmunt, an adviser to PONAR's management board and a member of PK MIL's board, said cooperation with ELVO could help develop new markets and expand the European industrial base supporting the manufacture, integration and maintenance of these artillery systems.

However, the newly announced memorandum does not confirm that ELVO will manufacture Bohdana components or participate in a specific artillery production contract.

## ELVO Expands Defense Manufacturing in Greece

ELVO operates a military vehicle manufacturing facility in Sindos, near Thessaloniki. The company has experience assembling and integrating Leopard 2HEL main battle tanks for the Greek Army and producing Leonidas armored personnel carriers.

In September 2026, ELVO, which is owned by Israel's SK Group, announced a €40 million investment program to modernize and expand its defense manufacturing operations. The expansion includes plans to create approximately 300 jobs and develop additional capabilities in unmanned systems and advanced defense technologies.

ELVO has also been developing industrial cooperation with Germany's Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles, including plans for military truck production and integration in Greece.

The agreement with PONAR adds another potential industrial partner as ELVO expands its manufacturing activities, while giving the Polish company an opportunity to explore cooperation with an established military vehicle producer in Southeast Europe.

The companies have not announced a timetable for implementing specific joint projects.
