Novi Travnik — Shares of BNT-Tvornica mašina i hidraulike Novi Travnik (BNT-TMiH) jumped 26% on Friday, marking one of the strongest single-day climbs in Bosnia’s defense sector history. The stock rose from 15.8 KM to 20 KM, pushing the company’s market capitalization from roughly 26 million KM to nearly 33 million KM.

The rally follows confirmation that BNT-TMiH is entering serial production of domestically engineered unmanned systems — a strategic shift that positions the state-owned defence manufacturer inside a rapidly expanding global drone market.

Drone pivot triggers investor confidence

Federal officials describe the move into unmanned capabilities as a decisive national milestone. Federal Minister Vedran Lakić called the launch “a technological leap that secures Bosnia’s relevance in next-generation battlefield systems.”

Management says the program will immediately add a minimum of 50 skilled positions while driving higher export-grade revenue. CEO Besim Belegić stressed that the drone line is not a license-build or foreign assembly, but a fully domestic ecosystem — from airframe and propulsion to software and payload integration.

Best post-war financial performance

BNT-TMiH generated 21.4 million KM in revenue in the first half of the year, up from 17.8 million KM year-on-year — the strongest performance since the 1990s. Net profit nearly doubled to approximately 2.3 million KM.

In parallel, the company officially expanded its product catalogue to include both expendable and reusable unmanned aerial platforms designed for tactical lift, precision strike, reconnaissance, and logistics support roles.

FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić recently underscored that every component is produced inside Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting the symbolic label printed on each system: “Revolucija u odbrani putem modernih tehnologija.”

Strategic impact

With escalating global demand for attritable and high-endurance drones, BNT-TMiH’s entry into the sector places Bosnia and Herzegovina among a select group capable of vertically integrated UAV development.
Investors have reacted accordingly — pricing in export potential, defence modernisation cycles, and accelerated procurement channels across Europe and the Middle East.

Adria Defense will continue monitoring BNT-TMiH’s drone rollout, export signals, and incoming contracts as the company transitions from artillery heritage leader to full-spectrum unmanned systems producer.
