BAKU, Azerbaijan— Senior defense officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria held bilateral consultations to enhance military cooperation within the framework of the regional “Graz-Krems” defense format.

The Bosnian delegation, led by Assistant Ministers Zoran Sajinovic (International Cooperation) and Sead Muratovic (Personnel Management), met with their Austrian counterparts headed by Arnold Kammel, Secretary General of the Austrian Ministry of Defense. The meeting also included Brigadier Roland Stromberger, Head of the Department for Military Diplomacy, and Brigadier Christian Hahn, Austria’s Defense Attache in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Both sides praised the excellent bilateral defense cooperation, highlighting Austria’s long-term support in the training and education of Bosnian cadets at the Theresan Military Academy and its continued engagement in EUFOR Althea. Discussions focused on expanding expert-level exchanges and initiating new projects in defense education, personnel development, and military heritage preservation.

A key topic was the Graz-Krems cooperation format, a regional initiative promoting coordinated defense engagement and training among Central and Southeastern European countries. The delegations also reviewed upcoming arms control seminars organized with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR).

Austrian officials emphasized that defense cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina plays a vital role in regional stability and partnership building, reaffirming Vienna’s commitment to supporting Bosnia’s continued defense reforms and Euro-Atlantic alignment.
