Bosnia and Egypt Target Broader Defense Collaboration, Minister Says
Bosnia and Egypt are poised to deepen defense industry cooperation, with plans for joint projects, technology exchange, and coordinated entry into third markets, Minister Vedran Lakić said following high-level talks in Sarajevo.

Sarajevo — Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt are exploring opportunities to deepen cooperation in the defense sector, signaling a potential new chapter in industrial collaboration between the two nations, Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakic announced following high-level talks in Sarajevo.
Minister Lakic met with a senior military delegation from the Arab Republic of Egypt, which is currently visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina. Discussions centered on strengthening existing ties and identifying areas for joint projects in the Federation’s defense industry.
According to a statement from the ministry, both sides expressed satisfaction with the results of their current cooperation and voiced readiness to expand it further through joint development programs, exchange of expertise, and co-production of new defense systems.
Talks also touched on coordinated efforts to enter third markets together — a strategy aimed at boosting export capacity and enhancing the global competitiveness of both countries’ defense industries.
“Egypt is a nation with exceptional economic and industrial capabilities, many of which are utilized for the needs of its armed and police forces, as well as for the development and production of weapons and military equipment,” Minister Lakic said.
“Given Egypt’s strategic importance in both regional and global contexts, expanding cooperation in the defense sector would be of special interest for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federation.”
Officials concluded the meeting by agreeing that there is clear mutual interest and tangible space for concrete initiatives in the coming period — initiatives expected to strengthen industrial and diplomatic ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt.
