Zagreb, November 5, 2025 — Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Ivan Anušić, will officially open the high-profile conference “Croatia’s Defence Industry 2025 – European Opportunities, Dual-Use Technologies and Global Security” today at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb, starting at 9:00 a.m.

Organized by Jutarnji List, the conference brings together leading experts and industry representatives at a pivotal moment for Croatia’s growing defense sector — as the country strengthens its role in the European Union’s long-term plan to boost collective defense capabilities by 2027.

The EU initiative encompasses four flagship programs: a European drone-defense initiative, eastern-flank surveillance, the European air shield, and the defense space shield. Croatia has emerged as one of the three leading nations in developing the drone-defence network, informally dubbed the “drone wall.”

To demonstrate Croatia’s commitment beyond rhetoric, Minister Anusic recently announced that the Ministry of Defence has signed a €115-million contract with a domestic company for the development and deployment of counter-drone defense systems.

At the same time, Croatian company DOK-ING and Slovenia’s Valhalla Turrets jointly unveiled their Komodo-Mangart 25 unmanned air-defense and counter-drone system at the SIDEC defense exhibition in Celje, Slovenia— underlining the region’s growing industrial cooperation and innovation capacity.

In recent years, several Croatian defence companies have quietly shifted focus toward high-tech and dual-use systems development. One notable example is Osijek-based Orqa, which has demonstrated significant progress in FPV “loitering” drones, marking the start of a new generation of locally engineered unmanned technologies.

The Croatia’s Defence Industry 2025 conference thus represents both a strategic showcase and a reflection of Croatia’s accelerating defence-industrial evolution — from component manufacturing to sophisticated integrated systems.
