CSG and Aselsan Form EU Joint Venture to Offer Korkut Air Defence on Tatra Trucks
A European joint venture will link Czech-based Czechoslovak Group and Turkey’s ASELSAN to industrialise and market the Korkut close-range air defence system on a Tatra 6×6 vehicle. Production and further development are set to take place in Czech and Slovak facilities under the new partnership.
Czech defence consortium Czechoslovak Group (CSG) and Turkish defence electronics manufacturer ASELSAN have agreed to launch a joint venture in the European Union focused on air defence and related technologies. The strategic cooperation agreement establishes an EU-based industrial partnership to advance air defence, electronic warfare, smart munitions, and border security systems.
One of the first deliverables from the cooperation will be the integration of ASELSAN’s Korkut self-propelled air defence gun system onto a Tatra Force 6×6 wheeled chassis. This configuration is intended to offer European customers and global buyers a mobile alternative to similar short-range air defence solutions.
Under the localisation plan, production activities will be transferred to selected CSG facilities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, expanding local industrial capacity. The partners have positioned the initiative as a response to growing demand for effective counter-UAV and low-altitude defence systems, with an emphasis on cost-efficient engagements against unmanned threats.
The Korkut system itself originates from ASELSAN’s portfolio of self-propelled anti-aircraft guns and is built around twin 35 mm automatic cannons, offering close-range defence against aerial targets. Traditionally mounted on tracked platforms and deployed by Turkish armed forces, the design is now being broadened to a wheeled configuration for improved mobility and export appeal.
