DAF, Tatra, and VDL Unveil New 6×6 Military Logistics Truck at BEDEX 2026
DAF Trucks, Tatra Trucks, and VDL Groep are presenting a new 6×6 military logistics truck at BEDEX 2026 in Brussels. The vehicle combines DAF powertrain components, a Tatra off-road chassis design, and a VDL-developed cargo body.
DAF Trucks, in cooperation with Tatra Trucks and VDL Groep, is showcasing a new 6×6 military logistics vehicle during the Brussels European Defence Exhibition & Conference (BEDEX) 2026, held from March 12–14 in Brussels. The truck represents a joint industrial effort integrating drivetrain, chassis, and mission modules from the three companies.
The vehicle features a 6×6 drivetrain with all wheels powered and is designed for military logistics roles in challenging terrain. According to the manufacturer, the configuration combines DAF engines and cab architecture with Tatra’s off-road chassis concept and superstructures developed by VDL.
The model displayed at the exhibition is equipped with an armored cab supplied by Tatra Defence, providing ballistic and mine protection. The platform will also be available with a standard DAF cab variant intended for applications where protection requirements are lower but crew accessibility and visibility are prioritized.
The mobility architecture is based on Tatra’s load-bearing central tube chassis combined with independent suspension and an all-wheel-drive system. This design, together with a central tire inflation system, is intended to support operations across difficult terrain while maintaining vehicle stability and ride comfort.
The vehicle on display uses a dedicated military cargo body developed by VDL Groep. The company stated that the 6×6 platform can be equipped with multiple mission modules and superstructures, enabling different logistics configurations depending on operational requirements.
The new truck builds on the existing cooperation between DAF and Tatra in military vehicle programs. The partnership previously delivered more than 900 all-wheel-drive trucks to the Belgian Ministry of Defence in 4×4 and 8×8 configurations for transport, container handling, and recovery roles. Maintenance for those fleets is supported through DAF’s international service network.
According to the companies, the three partners are also examining options for national production arrangements in future programs, reflecting the growing importance of local industrial participation in European defense procurement.
BEDEX 2026 brings together defense companies, government representatives, and NATO-related organizations to discuss defense technologies and industrial cooperation across Europe.
