Estonian Missile Defence Startup Raises €30M for European Production Push
Estonia-based missile defense startup Frankenburg Technologies has raised €30 million in Series A funding to expand missile production capacity in Europe. The company plans to scale manufacturing of cost-efficient interceptor systems aimed at countering mass aerial threats.
An Estonian defence technology startup focused on scalable missile systems has secured €30 million in Series A funding to expand sovereign missile manufacturing capacity within Europe.
Frankenburg Technologies, founded in 2024 and led by CEO Kusti Salm, a former Estonia defence ministry official, will use the new capital to build mass-production infrastructure for its interceptor missiles, aiming to produce at least 100 missiles per day per site in EU states. The round was led by venture firm Plural, with participation from Estonian state-linked investor SmartCap, bringing total capital raised to around €40 million.
Frankenburg’s approach addresses a core European air-defence challenge: modern aerial threats can be manufactured cheaply and in high volumes, whereas traditional interceptor production has been slower and costlier.
The funding will support establishing production sites, securing supply chains, and expanding the company’s footprint, including engineering and quality teams, alongside work on follow-on missile capabilities beyond its current short-range systems.
