Ukrainian Aeromotors Scales In-House Drone Motor Production

Ukrainian defense-tech manufacturer Aeromotors has entered a new phase of industrial growth, scaling domestic production of electric motors for unmanned aerial systems and reinforcing Ukraine’s ability to manufacture critical drone components locally.

Aeromotors produces drone motors entirely in-house in Ukraine, covering the full production cycle—from metal processing and coil winding to assembly and testing. This vertically integrated approach allows the company to maintain tight quality control, rapidly adapt designs, and customize motors for a wide range of platforms, from FPV drones to heavier UAV systems. Its products are already being used by Ukrainian drone manufacturers operating in active combat conditions.

In December, the company secured growth funding from Swedish investment firm Front Ventures, enabling a significant expansion of manufacturing capacity. Aeromotors currently produces around 10,000 motors per month and plans to scale output to approximately 60,000 units monthly.

A central strategic priority for the company is reducing reliance on Chinese-sourced components in critical drone subsystems. By developing domestic and European alternative supply chains, Aeromotors aims to improve resilience and reliability for defense manufacturers—a goal that mirrors broader European efforts to strengthen strategic autonomy in key defense technologies.

Alongside domestic expansion, Aeromotors is increasing cooperation with European partners and exploring localized production and partnership models outside Ukraine, positioning itself as a supplier not only for wartime needs but also for long-term European defense and security markets.

The company’s growth underscores the maturation of Ukraine’s defense-technology ecosystem, which is increasingly shifting from rapid battlefield innovation toward industrial-scale production of critical components with relevance well beyond the current conflict.
