US to Invest Over $500 Million in Polish Military Infrastructure
The United States will invest over $500 million to modernise four military bases in Poland, reinforcing NATO’s eastern flank and signalling a long-term commitment to US–Polish defence cooperation.
The United States will allocate more than $500 million to modernise military infrastructure in Poland, reinforcing NATO’s eastern flank and deepening defence cooperation between Washington and Warsaw.
The announcement was made by Adam Szłapka, spokesperson for the Polish government, who confirmed that the funding has been approved by the United States and will be directed toward upgrades at four key military locations: Drawsko-Pomorskie, Powidz, Wrocław, and Łask.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Strategic Impact
The funding will be used to modernise base infrastructure, improve logistics, and enhance operational readiness. While specific project details have not yet been disclosed, the investment is expected to support air, land, and joint-force operations, strengthening Poland’s role as a forward hub for NATO activities in Central and Eastern Europe.
These upgrades also improve the long-term sustainability of allied deployments, allowing faster reinforcement and more effective joint training in the region.
US Military Presence in Poland
Around 10,000 US service members are currently deployed across multiple bases in Poland, reflecting the country’s growing importance in NATO’s defence posture. Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the United States doubled its troop presence in Poland, expanding rotational deployments, command elements, and training activities.
Signals for the Future
In October 2025, Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the United States had given assurances that there were no plans to reduce its military presence in Poland. On the contrary, infrastructure investments of this scale signal long-term commitment and deeper integration of Polish bases into NATO’s operational planning.
The move underscores Poland’s position as a cornerstone of NATO’s eastern flank and highlights the continued strategic alignment between Warsaw and Washington amid ongoing security tensions in Europe.
