A Serbian defense delegation visited Azerbaijan under a bilateral cooperation plan, holding talks focused on strategic planning, defense reform, and regional stability — deepening the growing defense partnership between Baku and Belgrade.

Baku, Azerbaijan – A senior delegation from Serbia’s Ministry of Defense has concluded an official visit to Azerbaijan as part of the bilateral military cooperation plan between the two countries, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday.
The meeting, held at the Center for War Games of the Military Administration Institute within Azerbaijan’s National Defense University, underscored the growing defense partnership between Baku and Belgrade — a relationship that both sides describe as an example of “effective defense diplomacy.”
Officials reaffirmed the importance of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Defense, as well as ongoing military cooperation plans signed between the two ministries. They emphasized that regular exchanges, joint training, and mutual visits have strengthened strategic and operational coordination between Azerbaijan and Serbia.
“Such meetings make a special contribution to enhancing military cooperation between our nations,” Azerbaijani officials said, highlighting that numerous joint events and exercises have already been conducted under the bilateral framework.
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including strategic planning and operations, with Serbian and Azerbaijani officers participating in briefings and interactive sessions on operational planning. The Serbian delegation received detailed presentations on the modernization of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, including its recent reforms, force structure, training systems, and defense education institutions.
Both sides reiterated that the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia serve not only bilateral interests but also contribute to regional peace and stability.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegations exchanged commemorative gifts, symbolizing the continued commitment to defense partnership and dialogue.
The meeting marks another step in Azerbaijan’s ongoing effort to expand its international defense relations, particularly with Central and Eastern European partners, while Serbia continues to diversify its military diplomacy across Eurasia.
