Finserve Global Security Fund has named retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, former commanding general of U.S. Army Europe, as principal strategic advisor to its advisory board, enhancing the fund’s access to high-level military and geopolitical expertise.

Hodges, who led U.S. land forces across Europe and was responsible for NATO deterrence posture, military mobility and readiness in the post-Crimea security environment, will collaborate with Finserve’s lead portfolio manager in shaping long-term investment assessments. His remit includes evaluating evolving defence capability needs and the strategic positioning of companies across defence, cybersecurity and space technology sectors.

His appointment comes alongside leadership from Lieutenant General (Ret.) Karl Engelbrektson, former chief of the Swedish Army and head of the advisory board, underlining Finserve’s emphasis on integrating senior military judgment into investment strategy. Hodges’s U.S. experience adds a transatlantic perspective to the fund’s geopolitical risk analysis and capability outlook.

Finserve positions itself as one of the first actively managed global defence sector funds based in Europe, including the United Kingdom, with a strategy aimed at identifying companies that align with broad global security requirements. The fund recently expanded its distribution arrangements outside the Nordic region, appointing Spring Capital to support wider market access.

The advisory role is expected to inform the fund’s view on security developments and long-term investment themes, including maritime and Indo-Pacific security dynamics, areas where Hodges’s experience is especially pertinent.
