Indian precision engineering firm Balu Forge Industries Ltd has secured formal entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s industrial supply base, granting it a supplier role for high-precision defence components crucial to alliance member militaries. The move authorizes the company to produce and deliver mission-critical forged parts such as artillery shell bodies and complex forgings to NATO defence programmes.

Inclusion in the NATO supply chain reflects recognition of the company’s advanced forging and machining capabilities, which combine closed-die forging with high-speed multi-axis CNC processing. These technologies are essential for delivering components with the stringent dimensional accuracy and material properties required by modern defence systems.

From an industrial perspective, becoming a certified NATO supplier broadens Balu Forge’s addressable market beyond domestic and commercial sectors into the alliance’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. The company said the designation expands its global footprint and diversifies revenue streams by integrating it into programs that demand high-specification components for artillery and other complex military hardware.

Financial markets reacted positively to the news, with Balu Forge’s shares hitting upper circuit limits on Indian exchanges following the announcement, underscoring investor optimism about the strategic milestone.

Balu Forge operates integrated facilities in Belgaum, Karnataka, producing forged and machined parts for a range of sectors including automotive, aerospace, and defence. Its newly acquired NATO supplier status positions it to contribute directly to alliance member defence procurement and industrial revitalization initiatives.
