Joint Artillery Training Strengthens Serbia–Azerbaijan Defense Ties
Artillery units from Serbia and Azerbaijan conducted a joint two-week training on the 155mm B-52 Nora self-propelled howitzer at Serbia’s Pasuljanske livade range, showcasing deepening defense cooperation and interoperability between the two countries.
Artillery units of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have completed a two-week joint tactical training exercise focused on the operational use of the 155-mm B-52 M-15 Nora self-propelled howitzer. The exercise was conducted in Serbia under the bilateral military cooperation plan between the two countries.
The training took place at the peacetime base of Serbia’s Mixed Artillery Brigade in Niš and continued at the Pasuljanske livade training ground, where live-fire drills were held. Instructors from the Mixed Artillery Brigade shared their expertise on the tactical employment of the Nora system and fire-control procedures designed to achieve high-precision engagement in accordance with NATO-aligned standards.
Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Cvetković, commander of the B-52 Nora self-propelled artillery battalion, explained that the exercise was divided into two phases — classroom and field training in Niš, followed by live-fire practice.
“In the second phase, at Pasuljanske livade, we conducted both day and night firing sessions using 155-millimeter self-propelled howitzers. The Azerbaijani officers expressed great satisfaction with the training and with our weapon systems, particularly highlighting the precision and speed of the Nora and its fire-control system,” said Lt. Col. Cvetković.
The participants were visited by Major General Zoran Nasković, Commander of the Serbian Land Forces, who praised their professionalism and underscored the importance of the exercise as a tangible example of growing military-to-military cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan. He emphasized that such engagements not only enhance operational capabilities but also strengthen the overall bilateral relationship between the two nations.
