Kosovo Receives Skydagger Kamikaze Drones from Turkey’s Baykar
Kosovo has received Skydagger loitering munitions from Turkey’s Baykar ahead of schedule, expanding its fleet of Turkish-made UAV systems as part of its ongoing defense modernization.
Pristina - Kosovo has officially received a batch of Skydagger kamikaze drones from Turkey’s Baykar, marking a new phase in the country’s efforts to modernize its defense capabilities.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the delivery arrived ahead of schedule — originally planned for January 2026 — underscoring the close defense cooperation between Pristina and Ankara.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti said the acquisition reflects Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening its defense readiness and adopting cutting-edge technologies.
“We are investing in making our army — the Kosovo Security Force — a capable and modern force, aligned with the latest technological achievements and today’s warfare tactics,” Kurti stated.
The Skydagger system is classified as a loitering munition, combining FPV (First-Person View) and RTF (Ready-to-Fly) configurations. These drones are designed to carry explosive payloads and strike both mobile and stationary targets, giving small armed forces a cost-effective precision strike capability.
The purchase is part of a defense procurement contract signed in December 2024 between Kosovo and Baykar, although specific financial and technical details have not been disclosed.
The delivery strengthens Kosovo’s growing inventory of Turkish-made systems, including Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, which have already been integrated into the country’s defense structure.
