Athens / Kyiv — Paramount Greece and Ukraine’s MAC HUB have announced a strategic defence partnership aimed at boosting European industrial cooperation and strengthening Ukraine’s domestic defence production. The agreement centres on co-developing advanced land systems and establishing in-country manufacturing to enhance sovereign capability and security of supply.

The first outcome of this collaboration is the MAC OWL (Sova) mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle, now produced in Ukraine with extensive localisation and engineering by MAC HUB. The vehicle has been adapted to Ukrainian operational environments and threat conditions, using Paramount’s portable production model to facilitate scalable in-country manufacturing.

The MAC OWL (Sova) represents a significant addition to Ukraine’s land vehicle fleet, certified to NATO STANAG 4569 Levels 4a/4b for mine protection, enabling it to resist a 10 kg explosive detonation beneath both wheel and hull. Designers integrated lessons from the Russia–Ukraine conflict to optimise protective layout, situational awareness, and systems integration for survivability in high-threat settings.

For Paramount Greece, the partnership marks a formal entry into the European defence market and underscores a growing emphasis on resilient supply chains and local production capabilities amid heightened regional security concerns. European defence planners increasingly view in-country manufacture, sustainment, and upgrade capacity as strategic imperatives beyond mere equipment acquisition.

The strategic cooperation was signed roughly 18 months ago, with the MAC OWL (Sova) vehicle as its first tangible output and a platform for future joint programmes aimed at advancing European and Ukrainian defence industrial integration.
