TRZ Cacak Celebrates 100 Years as Cornerstone of Serbia’s Defense Logistics
The Ministry of Defense of Serbia celebrated a major milestone on Monday evening as the Technical Overhaul Institute Cacak (TRZ Cacak) marked 100 years since its founding.

CACAK, Serbia — The Ministry of Defense of Serbia celebrated a major milestone on Monday evening as the Technical Overhaul Institute Cacak (TRZ Cacak) marked 100 years since its founding — a century of continuous service to the country’s defense system.
At a formal ceremony held in the Cacak Cultural Center, Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic commended the institute’s enduring contribution to Serbia’s defense capabilities and praised generations of engineers and technicians whose expertise shaped its legacy.
“For 100 years, TRZ CaCak has been the backbone of our defense logistics — a pillar of reliability and technical mastery that has grown together with the nation,” Gasic said. “Its history is written with dedication, professionalism, and sincere patriotism.”
A Century of Service and Modernization
Established in 1925 under the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, TRZ Cacak was built to provide engineering maintenance and support for the armed forces. Over the decades, it transformed into a strategic center for maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a wide range of military equipment — including weapons, vehicles, and complex systems.
The institute has survived wars, restructuring, and technological shifts, always preserving its core mission: ensuring the readiness and longevity of military assets. Today, TRZ Cacak is recognized as a critical component of Serbia’s defense logistics, capable of adapting to modern standards and emerging technologies.
Preparing for the Future
Minister Gasic emphasized that in an era of rapid innovation and evolving security challenges, domestic maintenance and engineering capacity is essential to operational independence.
“Modern armies depend not only on advanced equipment but on resilient logistics. TRZ Cacak ensures that Serbia maintains its autonomy, readiness, and capacity to respond to new challenges,” he said.
Lieutenant Colonel Igor Denich, director of TRZ Cacak, described the centennial as a testament to institutional strength and vision for the next century.
“A century is not just a number — it’s a symbol of resilience and progress. We’re investing in new equipment, training young engineers, and transferring knowledge to future generations to ensure this legacy continues,” Denich said.
He highlighted the institute’s growing role in defense innovation, including serial production of new systems and modernization of existing platforms — efforts that align with Serbia’s broader defense development strategy.
Honors and Reflections
During the event, Minister Gasic received a commemorative plaque for his contributions to the institute’s development, alongside senior defense officials recognized for their long-standing support. Guests also enjoyed a performance by the Stanislav Binički Artistic Ensemble and a documentary film by Zastava Film, showcasing the institute’s history and capabilities.
Attendees included members of the Ministry of Defense and General Staff, local officials, business representatives, and partners from across Serbia’s defense sector.
