Production has been suspended at the Gorazde-based company Ginex, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s key ammunition and explosives manufacturers, after workers launched a spontaneous protest demanding a meeting with the company’s Supervisory Board.

According to Adria Defense sources, the workers gathered in front of the company’s administration building this morning, insisting that the Supervisory Board urgently convene to address their grievances. The protest was triggered by the Board’s refusal to approve an increase in the hourly wage to €3.15, as stipulated by the collective agreement for the metal industry.

Ginex management reportedly proposed raising the hourly rate to €3.15 for a six-month period, but the Supervisory Board rejected that proposal during a telephone session earlier today. Instead, it opted to maintain a 20% wage increase plan tied to a reduction in individual employee coefficients — a move that sparked widespread dissatisfaction among the workforce.

As of this afternoon, production has been halted in several sections of the factory, with employees remaining inside the plant’s premises until members of the Supervisory Board arrive to address them.

The current management of UNIS “GINEX” d.d. Gorazde consists of Dzenana Turkovic (Director), Demir Imamovic (Executive Director for Economics, Marketing and Commercial Affairs), and Edin Cesko (Executive Director for Other Affairs).

Ginex, headquartered in Gorazde, is one of the strategic producers within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s defense industry, supplying detonators, primers, and other components for small and large-caliber ammunition to domestic and international partners. The company has long been considered a backbone of the country’s export-oriented defense production.

The situation remains tense, and further developments are expected once the Supervisory Board members respond to the workers’ demands.
