Aero Sentinel G2 Tested With Romanian Forces Under Jamming

Israeli unmanned aircraft manufacturer Aero Sentinel has completed a week of Sentinel G2 demonstrations during a Romanian Land Forces exercise, flying day and night intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions under heavy electronic jamming. The G2 remained airborne on missions lasting up to 75 minutes while locating positions and other targets as the electronic warfare environment became progressively more demanding, according to information released by the company.

The demonstrations were conducted with a Romanian defense industry partner. Aero Sentinel did not identify the partner in its initial account, but the company lists Custodia RKT as its official distributor in Romania and has previously appeared with the company at the Black Sea Defense and Aerospace exhibition in Bucharest.

Romanian reporting placed the evaluation at the Cincu training area, one of the country’s principal military training facilities. No procurement contract or formal acquisition process for the G2 has been announced, and the Romanian side has so far expressed interest in further evaluation rather than a confirmed purchase.

Sentinel G2 faced an increasingly contested EW environment

Electronic warfare was a central part of the Romanian demonstration.

Aero Sentinel said the G2 conducted ISR sorties during both daylight and nighttime conditions while operating through strong electronic interference intended to reproduce conditions encountered in contemporary combat. The aircraft conducted missions lasting up to 75 minutes during the evaluation.

The company has not released technical data showing the specific jamming frequencies, power levels or countermeasures encountered during the exercise. The demonstration therefore confirms operation in a deliberately contested electronic environment but does not provide enough public information for an independent assessment of the G2’s resistance to particular electronic attack systems.

That distinction is important as European militaries increasingly assess small unmanned aircraft against lessons from Ukraine, where radio-frequency interference, navigation disruption and rapidly changing counter-UAS tactics have become routine operating conditions.

The G2 is a compact quadcopter with a maximum takeoff weight of 4 kg, according to Aero Sentinel specifications. The company lists a flight endurance of more than 80 minutes and a radio range of up to 10 km under its published configuration.

The aircraft can carry stabilized electro-optical and infrared payloads. Aero Sentinel offers several payload options for the G2, including the Kfir, Snonit and Dror sensor turrets, providing daytime and thermal imaging configurations for tactical surveillance missions.

The Romanian flights reaching up to 75 minutes are therefore close to the endurance envelope advertised by the manufacturer, although operational endurance can vary according to payload, weather conditions, flight profile and other factors.

Romania gives Aero Sentinel another foothold on NATO’s eastern flank

The Romanian activity is part of a broader Aero Sentinel push into European markets, particularly NATO countries in Central and Eastern Europe.

Aero Sentinel officially lists Custodia RKT as its Romanian distributor. It also works with PAGACZ Defense Group in Poland and maintains European partnerships in countries including Greece and Italy.

The company is displaying its ISR drone systems at MSPO 2026 in Kielce from September 8 to 11 alongside PAGACZ Defense Group. Aero Sentinel identified the Polish company as its local partner and is presenting its platforms from Hall 1, Booth B09.

Romania is particularly relevant because its armed forces are adapting to a security environment shaped directly by the war across the Black Sea.

Small ISR drones able to operate with limited logistical requirements are increasingly becoming part of tactical reconnaissance architectures rather than specialized assets held only at higher command levels. Electronic warfare performance is correspondingly becoming one of the principal evaluation criteria for such systems.

Aero Sentinel has not disclosed whether the Romanian demonstration is connected to a defined procurement requirement.

G2 has also operated with Croatian Special Forces

Romania is not the only southeastern European NATO country where Aero Sentinel has demonstrated the G2.

The company recently disclosed that a G2 operated alongside Croatian Special Forces during a counter-UAS exercise in Croatia. Aero Sentinel described the activity as part of its expanding presence in the country and published imagery from the exercise.

That activity gives the Romanian demonstration wider regional relevance.

Within a short period, Aero Sentinel has publicly highlighted operational activity in Croatia, demonstrations in Romania and an industry presence at MSPO in Poland. Together, those events indicate a focused effort to expand the G2’s visibility among NATO members on Europe’s eastern and southeastern flank.

The company’s commercial strategy also supports that interpretation. Aero Sentinel has said that approximately half of its sales are already generated outside Israel, with customers including the Netherlands, Morocco and Japan, while Eastern Europe represents a specific area of focus.

Aero Sentinel has indicated that a sufficiently large foreign order could also support establishing production capacity in the customer country. The company currently relies on local distributors in multiple European markets rather than operating solely through direct exports from Israel.

Aero Sentinel is expanding production after rebuilding in Israel

The European demonstrations coincide with changes inside Aero Sentinel itself.

An Iranian missile destroyed the company’s Petah Tikva facility in April 2026, shortly after Veloryx acquired a 70 percent stake in Aero Sentinel for NIS 35 million, according to Israeli business newspaper Globes. The company subsequently relocated operations to Tel Aviv and began expanding its production capacity.

Aero Sentinel currently assembles its drones manually at a maximum rate of around 30 aircraft per month, according to Globes. The company plans to introduce injection-molding production methods that could increase output to approximately 100 to 150 drones per month, with a longer-term target of producing 1,000 drones annually by 2029.

The manufacturer is also developing a new platform intended to operate in GPS-degraded conditions using vision-based positioning, with launch planned for November 2026. That system is expected to incorporate a camera supplied by Israeli electro-optical specialist NextVision Stabilized Systems.

Those developments place the Romanian evaluation within a larger transition for Aero Sentinel from a relatively small tactical-UAV manufacturer toward higher-volume production and expanded international sales.

For Romania, however, the immediate status remains an evaluation rather than procurement.

Further demonstrations will be important in determining whether the G2 progresses from a locally supported trial into a formal Romanian requirement. The aircraft’s performance under electronic warfare conditions is likely to remain central to that assessment.
