KNDS Expands Poland Push With LU211 and New CELERIS 8x8

KNDS is using the MSPO 2026 defense exhibition in Kielce to expand its industrial position in Poland, combining plans for local production of LU211 155 mm artillery ammunition with a broader portfolio aimed at Polish and Baltic requirements. The European land systems group also unveiled its new CELERIS 8x8 platform at the exhibition on September 8. 

The strategy puts local production at the center of KNDS efforts in Poland rather than limiting the company's presence to equipment sales. Poland has become one of Europe's most important markets for land systems and ammunition, making local manufacturing and technology transfer increasingly relevant to competition for future programs.

KNDS builds LU211 ammunition production capacity in Poland

KNDS is building on an agreement signed with Polish industrial partner Niewiadów at Eurosatory 2026. The partnership covers technology transfer for production of the LU211P 155 mm artillery projectile in Poland, together with Modular Charge System propellant charges and other ammunition components. 

The planned Polish production capacity is expected to reach 180,000 artillery rounds and propelling charges per year, according to details previously reported by Polish defense publication Defence24. The cooperation could later expand into long-range 105 mm ammunition and 120 mm tank ammunition. 

The LU211 family is particularly relevant to Poland because the ammunition can be used across multiple NATO-standard artillery platforms. KNDS has identified compatibility with systems including CAESAR, K9, Krab, PzH 2000 and RCH 155. 

For the LU211 configuration presented by KNDS, the company lists a range of up to 30 km from a 155 mm/39-caliber gun using base bleed and up to 40 km from a 155 mm/52-caliber gun. 

CELERIS 8x8 makes its debut at MSPO 2026

KNDS Mobility is also using MSPO to unveil CELERIS 8x8, a new military mobility platform intended as a foundation for locally configured wheeled combat vehicles. Rather than presenting CELERIS as a single finished combat vehicle, KNDS describes it as an architecture combining the technologies required for an 8x8 chassis with protection and weapon-system integration. 

The company says the concept could reduce the period between a program's formal launch and rollout of a locally produced vehicle to less than 12 months. That claim represents a development target rather than a demonstrated production timeline for a Polish program. 

The emphasis on local production is significant in Poland, where international manufacturers increasingly compete not only on platform performance but also on industrial participation, supply security and domestic manufacturing.

KNDS brings artillery and counter-drone systems to Kielce

Beyond LU211 and CELERIS, KNDS is presenting the 105 LG1 105 mm light howitzer, which can operate with a three-person crew. When paired with ERG3 long-range ammunition, KNDS lists a maximum range of up to 17 km. 

The company is also displaying BONUS 155 mm anti-armor ammunition and its TARGAS counter-unmanned aircraft system and very short-range air defense architecture. TARGAS combines sensors with soft-kill and hard-kill effectors, including the ARX-30 turret firing 30x113 mm ammunition. 

KNDS has additionally brought its Mataris family of loitering munitions to Kielce, including the MTO-T ground loitering munition. The broader portfolio illustrates the company's effort to compete across ammunition, artillery, counter-drone systems, unmanned weapons and armored mobility rather than through a single platform offer. 

The 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition runs in Kielce from September 8 to 11, 2026, with September 8 designated as VIP Day. 

Why is KNDS expanding its presence in Poland?
