Myers Industries Expands Defense Manufacturing With New Poland Production

Myers Industries has expanded its European defense manufacturing footprint by launching production of Scepter military ammunition containers in Poland, marking a significant step in the company's strategy to support growing NATO demand with regional manufacturing. Initial production began earlier in 2026, with the first customer deliveries starting in April, according to the company. 

The move reflects a broader trend across the European defense industrial base as suppliers localize manufacturing to improve supply chain resilience, shorten delivery times, and support the rapid expansion of ammunition production across NATO member states following increased defense spending. 

Poland strengthens its role in Europe's defense supply chain

Production is taking place through Scepter International Poland at a privately owned contract manufacturing facility selected after an evaluation process. While Myers Industries has not disclosed the exact location or production capacity, the company said the investment enables faster support for European military customers and reduces logistics complexity. 

Poland has become one of Europe's fastest-growing defense manufacturing hubs. Alongside major investments in armored vehicles, artillery, missile systems, and ammunition production, the country continues attracting international defense suppliers seeking manufacturing capacity inside the NATO alliance.

For companies serving military logistics, establishing production inside Europe has become increasingly important as governments prioritize secure regional supply chains and faster replenishment capabilities.

Polymer ammunition containers replace traditional designs

Scepter manufactures military-grade polymer ammunition containers designed as alternatives to conventional metal and wooden packaging. According to the company, the containers reduce overall transport weight while improving corrosion resistance, durability, handling, and lifecycle costs.

The containers are produced using proprietary resin formulations designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions and comply with military performance requirements. The products are already fielded by military customers across NATO and allied nations. 

European demand continues to grow

The Poland expansion follows Myers Industries' earlier indication that military products have become one of its fastest-growing business segments. Company leadership previously pointed to rising ammunition consumption, NATO rearmament efforts, and the need for expanded ammunition packaging capacity as key growth drivers for its defense business. 

For European customers, local production offers shorter lead times while reducing dependence on transatlantic logistics. It also aligns with NATO's increasing emphasis on strengthening the alliance's industrial capacity and building more resilient regional defense supply chains.

As European governments continue expanding ammunition procurement and stockpile replenishment programs, suppliers providing specialized logistics and packaging solutions are expected to benefit alongside traditional ammunition manufacturers.
