Romania’s BlueSpace Technology Wins €2.33M US TEMPEST Contract
Romanian defense technology company BlueSpace Technology has signed a €2.33 million contract with US-based RavenTek to supply TEMPEST-secured IT equipment, expanding its presence in the American defense and cybersecurity market.
Romanian defense technology company BlueSpace Technology has signed a €2.33 million contract with US-based RavenTek for the supply of TEMPEST-secured IT equipment, marking another step in the company’s expansion into international defense and cybersecurity markets.
The agreement follows approximately one year of discussions between the two companies, during which they defined the final technical solution, equipment configurations and the number of units required for the project.
RavenTek provides cybersecurity, tactical operations and IT solutions for organizations operating in security-sensitive environments.
The equipment supplied by BlueSpace Technology is designed to protect sensitive information against interception through unintended electromagnetic emissions generated by electronic devices.
TEMPEST protection is used in environments where compromising emissions from computers, displays and other electronic systems could expose classified or sensitive information.
The new US contract follows two major contracts BlueSpace Technology secured earlier this year with NATO structures for the delivery of TEMPEST equipment. Those agreements have a combined estimated value of approximately €19 million.
BlueSpace also previously received seven smaller orders for similar equipment destined for NATO organizations, worth nearly €400,000 in total.
The company is listed by NATO among certified TEMPEST vendors and operates its own testing capabilities for protected information and communications equipment.
BlueSpace Technology has expanded beyond secure IT systems into several other defense-related areas, including electronic warfare, counter-UAS technologies and tactical vehicles.
The company is also developing VLAH, a Romanian-designed 4×4 armored vehicle intended for tactical and operational missions.
The RavenTek agreement represents a relatively small contract compared with BlueSpace’s recent NATO awards, but it is strategically significant because it gives the Romanian company a direct commercial foothold in the US market.
For Romania’s defense sector, the contract also highlights a broader trend in which local companies are moving beyond traditional ammunition and heavy-industry manufacturing into cybersecurity, secure communications and other higher-value defense technologies.
