TEKEVER and Threod Systems Sign MoU for Long-Term Autonomous Systems Cooperation
TEKEVER and Estonia-based Threod Systems have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore deeper cooperation in autonomous systems, defense technology and future joint programs.
European autonomous systems company TEKEVER and Estonian defense technology manufacturer Threod Systems have signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a framework for potential long-term cooperation.
The agreement will allow the two companies to identify areas where their technologies, engineering capabilities and operational experience could be combined to address emerging defense and security requirements. Potential areas include technology development, capability enhancement, market opportunities and future joint programs.
The companies said the cooperation is also intended to support European sovereign manufacturing capabilities and strengthen links between defense technology ecosystems across the continent.
TEKEVER develops AI-enabled autonomous systems and intelligence solutions combining unmanned aircraft, artificial intelligence and data analytics. Threod Systems, headquartered in Estonia, develops and manufactures unmanned aerial systems, electro-optical payloads and other defense technologies.
Ricardo Mendes, CEO of TEKEVER, said the agreement is intended to create a foundation for a longer-term relationship built around complementary capabilities and the development of new defense solutions.
Threod Systems CEO Arno Vaik described the agreement as a step toward closer cooperation between the two companies, with the partners now expected to evaluate where their respective technologies and expertise can create new operational capabilities.
For TEKEVER, the agreement adds another European industrial relationship to a growing network of partnerships covering sensors, electronic warfare, testing and autonomous systems. The company has previously announced cooperation agreements with companies including QinetiQ, Skeleton Technologies, Sapient Perception and Avantix.
The Threod agreement also comes during a period of rapid expansion for TEKEVER. On September 16, the company announced a contract worth up to £400 million to supply its AR5 long-endurance unmanned aerial system to the British Army under Project CORVUS.
One day after announcing the Threod MoU, TEKEVER disclosed a $580 million Series D financing round, valuing the company at $6.4 billion. The round was led by UC Investments and Baillie Gifford, with Merlyn Advisors joining as a new strategic investor.
The MoU itself does not yet announce a specific jointly developed platform, procurement contract or financial commitment. Instead, it establishes a framework under which TEKEVER and Threod Systems can evaluate future projects and areas of technical and commercial cooperation.
