BANJA LUKA, Bosnia and Herzegovina, October 22, 2026 — The government of Republika Srpska has instructed its finance and interior ministries to secure approximately €1.53 million (BAM 3 million) in the 2026 budget for the procurement of drones and counter-drone systems for the entity's police force.

The planned acquisition is intended to strengthen police operational capabilities, improve public security and enhance protection for officers during security operations and emergencies.

The decision follows recent efforts by the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior to strengthen critical infrastructure protection. Earlier in October, the ministry held discussions with relevant institutions on unmanned aerial threats, existing counter-UAS capabilities and procedures for detecting and responding to unauthorized drone activity.

The government has not disclosed the types or quantities of equipment to be acquired, potential suppliers or a procurement timeline. No contract award has been announced.
