Slovak defense manufacturer CSM Industry has secured a framework agreement with the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic for the potential delivery of UDS engineering systems under the European Union’s SAFE program, with a total ceiling value of up to €497 million.

According to the company, the agreement covers UDS engineering platforms designed to support military mobility, infrastructure construction, disaster response, and civil protection missions. The systems are already in service with several NATO member states and form part of Slovakia’s broader defense modernization plans.

The SAFE mechanism, formally known as Security Action for Europe, allows participating EU member states to join approved framework arrangements, creating opportunities for multinational procurement and expanded industrial cooperation. CSM Industry stated that the agreement could therefore serve as a basis for future orders beyond Slovakia.

The UDS 214 Defence universal engineering vehicle was previously identified among Slovakia’s modernization projects intended for SAFE-related financing. Government planning documents outlined a project value of €497 million, with a portion expected to be supported through the European financing mechanism.

The agreement represents one of the largest recent framework arrangements involving Slovakia’s domestic defense-industrial sector. It also aligns with broader European efforts to strengthen industrial capacity, improve military mobility capabilities, and increase procurement cooperation among EU and NATO members.

CSM Industry, which traces its industrial activities back to the late 1960s, develops and manufactures specialized engineering equipment for military and civilian users. The company has also participated in wider defense-industrial cooperation projects involving European manufacturers.
