Germany's INLEAP Photonics has raised €20 million to scale production of its FASTLIGHT laser counter-drone systems and expand across Europe.
German defense technology company INLEAP Photonics has raised approximately €20 million to expand production of its laser-based counter-drone systems, with UVC Partners leading the seed financing round. The Hanover-based company plans to use the capital to scale manufacturing and testing, continue development of its FASTLIGHT SHIELD and FASTLIGHT HELD systems, and expand its presence across European defense and critical infrastructure markets.
Investors participating in the round include Germany-based High-Tech Gründerfonds, Poland's Balnord, Estonia's Sentris and Denmark's Scale Capital. The financing moves INLEAP from technology development toward industrialization as European armed forces seek lower-cost methods of defeating increasingly numerous unmanned aerial threats.
€20 million funding targets series production
INLEAP plans to direct the new capital toward standardized manufacturing and testing processes for FASTLIGHT SHIELD and FASTLIGHT HELD. The company will also invest in quality assurance, certification, supply chains, research and development, sales and customer support.

INLEAP and the Cyber Innovation Hub of the Bundeswehr began a six-month Laserdome testing program in April 2026 to assess FASTLIGHT SHIELD under operational conditions, including its ability to engage drone swarms. INLEAP and STARK established a strategic partnership in April 2026 to integrate the laser effector into unmanned platforms and broader counter-UAS architectures. The companies have also identified STARK's Vanta unmanned surface vessel family as one platform for potential FASTLIGHT SHIELD integration.

At ILA Berlin 2026, MBDA Germany presented its Combined DefendAir Directed Energy Weapon System-Laser, which combines a high-energy laser with 24 DefendAir missiles to create overlapping counter-UAS engagement options.
The parallel development paths illustrate a broader shift toward layered counter-drone defenses. Missiles and other kinetic interceptors remain necessary against targets outside practical laser engagement envelopes, while directed-energy effectors offer an alternative for repeated engagements against lower-cost drones when operating conditions permit.
For INLEAP, the €20 million round therefore represents more than additional research funding. It provides capital for the manufacturing, testing and certification infrastructure required to determine whether its laser technology can move from Bundeswehr trials and demonstrations into serially produced European counter-UAS systems.
