Poland’s state-owned defense company Mesko has reported record annual sales, driven primarily by continued demand for its Piorun man-portable air defense systems. The results come amid sustained procurement across NATO and partner countries seeking to strengthen short-range air defense capabilities.

The Piorun system, developed and produced by Mesko, has seen increased orders following its operational use in Ukraine. The system’s performance in combat conditions has contributed to heightened international interest, particularly among European states accelerating air defense acquisitions in response to evolving security threats.

According to company data, revenue growth has been accompanied by expanded production output. Mesko has taken steps to scale manufacturing capacity in order to meet both domestic requirements and export commitments. This includes investments in production lines and supply chain adjustments aimed at reducing delivery timelines.

The Polish government has supported efforts to increase output, aligning with broader national and NATO objectives to strengthen defense industrial readiness. The expansion of Piorun production also reflects Poland’s role as a key supplier of portable air defense systems within the alliance.

In parallel with missile production, Mesko continues to operate across a wider portfolio that includes ammunition and other defense-related products. However, the Piorun system remains a central driver of current growth, positioning the company as a significant contributor to Europe’s short-range air defense segment.

The latest results highlight the impact of shifting demand patterns across the European defense market, where rapid procurement cycles and operational requirements are reshaping industrial priorities. For Mesko, sustained demand for Piorun systems is expected to remain a key factor in its near-term outlook.
