Montenegro, Czech Republic Sign Bilateral Defense Cooperation Agreement

Montenegro and the Czech Republic signed a bilateral defense cooperation agreement during a meeting in Prague between Montenegrin Defense Minister Dragan Krapović and Czech Defense Minister Jaromír Zůna.

Montenegro and the Czech Republic have signed an intergovernmental agreement on defense cooperation aimed at expanding bilateral military ties and supporting future capability development initiatives.

The agreement was signed in Prague during an official visit by Montenegrin Defense Minister Dragan Krapović, who met with Czech Defense Minister Jaromír Zůna to discuss regional security, NATO cooperation, and defense modernization priorities.

According to the Montenegrin Ministry of Defense, the agreement creates a formal framework for deeper cooperation in military development, modernization programs, and defense capability enhancement. Officials indicated the arrangement is intended to support Montenegro’s continued alignment with NATO standards and long term defense reform objectives.

Krapović stated that Montenegro continues to increase investment in the defense sector, with a focus on modernization projects and technological upgrades for the Armed Forces of Montenegro. The ministry also highlighted the country’s participation in international missions and allied activities.

Regional stability in the Western Balkans was also discussed during the meeting. Both sides emphasized the importance of Euro Atlantic integration and institutional cooperation for long term security in the region.

The Czech side reiterated support for Montenegro’s European Union accession process and broader defense capacity development. Czech officials described the agreement as an important step toward expanding existing defense and security cooperation mechanisms.

During the visit, Krapović also reviewed products and systems presented by companies from the Czech defense industry. Montenegro stated that future procurement and modernization decisions would continue to be based on operational requirements and transparent procedures.
