Finnish defense company Patria has completed the delivery of all AMV XP 8x8 armored ambulance vehicles ordered by Slovakia, concluding a key phase of the country's ongoing mechanized forces modernization program. The final vehicles were handed over in Lieskovec, Slovakia, according to the company.

The ten ambulance variants form part of a wider acquisition program covering 76 Patria AMV XP armored combat vehicles procured through a government-to-government agreement signed in 2022 between Slovakia, Finland, and Patria. The package includes 60 infantry fighting vehicles, 10 armored ambulance vehicles, and six command post vehicles intended for the Slovak Armed Forces.

The completion of ambulance deliveries represents an important milestone within Slovakia's BOV 8x8 program, which is designed to replace legacy Soviet-era armored platforms and strengthen the mobility and protection of mechanized units. The first Slovak vehicle delivered under the program in 2023 was also an ambulance configuration, reflecting the priority placed on battlefield medical support capabilities.

Industrial cooperation remains a central element of the program. Patria stated that technology transfer arrangements and cooperation with Slovak industry are intended to expand domestic manufacturing expertise, improve security of supply, and support long-term sustainment capabilities within Slovakia. Local industrial participation was established as a key requirement during the procurement process, with Slovak companies involved in vehicle integration and production activities.

The broader Patria AMV XP fleet for Slovakia is scheduled to continue entering service over the coming years as deliveries of infantry fighting and command post variants progress. The program forms part of a wider effort by Bratislava to modernize its land forces in line with NATO capability requirements while strengthening the domestic defense industrial base.
