Quantum Systems Developing Skyron-600 Interceptor Drone to Counter Russian Jet-Powered UAVs
Germany's Quantum Systems is developing the Skyron-600, a high-speed interceptor drone targeting speeds above 600 km/h to counter Russian jet-powered attack UAVs.
German defense technology company Quantum Systems is developing a new high-speed interceptor drone, the Skyron-600, designed to reach speeds exceeding 600 km/h as Russian forces increasingly deploy faster, jet-powered attack drones against Ukraine.
The Skyron-600 will follow the company's existing Skyron-400 interceptor, which can reach speeds of up to 380 km/h. The new model is being developed in response to Russian Geran-4 and Geran-5 jet-powered attack drones.
No launch date, confirmed customer or delivery schedule has been announced.
Higher Speeds and New Interception Concepts
Quantum Systems is examining several approaches to intercepting faster drones operating at higher altitudes, including targets flying at approximately 4,000 meters or above.
One option involves rocket boosters that would carry interceptors to around 3,000 meters before engagement. Other concepts include fixed-wing carrier drones capable of releasing multiple interceptors and unmanned helicopters used to lift them closer to their targets.
These approaches remain under evaluation and have not been confirmed as part of the final Skyron-600 configuration.
The company has already secured an order for its Skyron-400 from an unidentified Middle Eastern country. The manufacturer has not disclosed the customer or number of systems ordered.
Quantum Systems Expands Interceptor Production in Ukraine
Separately, Quantum Systems is working with Ukrainian manufacturer WIY Drones through their joint venture, Quantum WIY Industries.
The partnership has developed the SPYS interceptor, which can approach speeds of 500 km/h and has undergone testing against Russian jet-powered drones. Unlike Skyron-600, SPYS has already been deployed in Ukraine.
The development comes as Germany is financing tens of thousands of Quantum Systems interceptor drones for Ukraine under its latest military assistance package.
Quantum Systems is also expanding its Ukrainian manufacturing operations. Its German-Ukrainian venture recently secured an expanded order for Linza and Zoom drones from Ukraine's National Guard.
AdriaDefense covered that contract on October 7.
Quantum Systems has not confirmed whether Skyron-600 is included in Germany's latest interceptor financing commitment.
The company has yet to disclose the new drone's range, payload, production cost or flight-test results. Its planned speed above 600 km/h remains a development target rather than a publicly verified capability.
