German-Ukrainian Drone Venture Secures Expanded 2027 Order
German-Ukrainian joint venture Quantum Frontline Industries has secured an expanded 2027 drone order from Ukraine’s National Guard as it prepares to increase production capacity fivefold.
Quantum Frontline Industries, the German-Ukrainian joint venture between Quantum Systems and Frontline Robotics, has secured an expanded contract to supply Linza and Zoom drones to Ukraine’s National Guard in 2027.
The new agreement exceeds the volume of the joint venture’s 2026 production program and comes as Quantum Frontline Industries, or QFI, prepares to increase its manufacturing capacity fivefold next year.
The contract was signed by Matthias Lehna, Vice President at Quantum Systems, Pavlo Kosolapkin, CTO and co-founder of Frontline Robotics, and Major General Oleksandr Pivnenko, commander of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Financial terms and the number of systems covered by the agreement were not disclosed.
The order includes the Linza multi-purpose drone and the Zoom reconnaissance drone, both developed by Ukrainian defense technology company Frontline Robotics based on operational requirements from Ukrainian forces.
QFI said production under its first contract remains on schedule for completion in 2026, while manufacturing capacity in Germany is now being expanded to support substantially higher volumes in 2027.
The move represents another step in efforts to transfer Ukrainian-developed defense technologies into larger European manufacturing structures while keeping development closely linked to battlefield feedback from Ukraine.
From Ukrainian development to German industrial production
Quantum Frontline Industries was established in late 2025 by Munich-based Quantum Systems and Frontline Robotics under Ukraine’s “Build with Ukraine” initiative.
The venture was created to manufacture Ukrainian-designed unmanned systems at industrial scale in Germany.
Production began earlier this year, with QFI completing its first batch of Germany-produced Linza drones in April. The systems were subsequently supplied to Ukraine as production continued to ramp up.
The company describes the model as combining Ukrainian engineering and operational experience with German manufacturing capacity.
“Over the past year, we have shown that we can build up production quickly and reliably,” Matthias Lehna, managing director of Quantum Frontline Industries, said in announcing the latest agreement.
The 2027 contract will also support further localization and development of the systems as Frontline Robotics incorporates feedback from Ukrainian units. For Ukraine, the arrangement provides additional manufacturing capacity outside the country while retaining Ukrainian technology at the center of the program.
Major General Pivnenko said expanded production in Germany gives Ukraine access to additional capacity while allowing Ukrainian-developed systems to reach National Guard units at greater scale.
Quantum Systems expands Ukraine partnerships
The QFI project is part of a broader expansion of Quantum Systems’ industrial cooperation with Ukrainian defense companies.
Quantum Systems acquired a 10% stake in Frontline Robotics in 2025, with an option to increase its holding to as much as 25%.
Since establishing QFI, the German company has also launched additional joint ventures with Ukrainian manufacturers under the Build with Ukraine framework.
These include Quantum WIY Industries, focused on air defense systems with WIY Drones, and Quantum Tencore Industries, which is producing unmanned ground vehicles together with Ukrainian manufacturer Tencore.
The latest QFI order highlights a broader shift in German-Ukrainian defense cooperation from supplying equipment to establishing permanent manufacturing structures capable of producing Ukrainian-designed systems at scale in Europe.
With production capacity planned to increase fivefold in 2027, QFI is now moving from initial production ramp-up toward sustained industrial manufacturing.
