Serbia, Slovakia Pledge Closer Defense Cooperation During Bratislava Talks

Serbia and Slovakia have agreed to strengthen defense cooperation following high-level talks in Bratislava, with both countries highlighting opportunities for closer military and defense-industrial collaboration while reaffirming their strong bilateral partnership.

Serbia and Slovakia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral defense cooperation following high-level meetings in Bratislava between Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, alongside Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák. 

According to both governments, the discussions highlighted the strong and friendly relationship between the two countries and explored opportunities to deepen cooperation across the defense sector and other areas of mutual interest. Serbian officials emphasized Belgrade’s policy of military neutrality while reaffirming its intention to strengthen defense ties with international partners where aligned with national interests. 

The talks also touched on regional security, European integration, and Slovakia’s continued support for Serbia’s EU accession process. Serbian officials expressed appreciation for Slovakia’s contribution to the NATO-led KFOR mission in Kosovo, while Bratislava reiterated its interest in expanding defense-industrial cooperation with Serbia. 

The meetings come amid a broader trend of increasing defense engagement between the two countries, with both sides signaling that defense industry collaboration could become a more significant pillar of bilateral relations in the future.
