Serbian Defense Minister Expected to Visit Azerbaijan in Late 2026
Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić is expected to travel to Azerbaijan toward the end of 2026, according to Azerbaijani officials. The planned visit points to continued momentum in bilateral defense ties as Belgrade and Baku expand cooperation in military and military-technical areas.
Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić is expected to visit Azerbaijan in late 2026, according to remarks by Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Serbia, Kamal Huseynov, during an event in Belgrade marking Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces Day.
According to Azerbaijani officials, the visit is expected to take place toward the end of next year and would add to a series of recent defense contacts between the two countries. Huseynov said defense and military-technical cooperation has become a growing part of the broader Serbia-Azerbaijan partnership.
The ambassador also linked the expected trip to the recent visit of Azerbaijan’s defense minister to Belgrade, which he said had helped advance bilateral ties. He described mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity as a core element of the relationship between the two countries.
While no program details or agenda have been disclosed, a visit by Gašić would be another indicator that Belgrade and Baku intend to keep defense relations on the bilateral agenda. For Serbia, which has in recent years pursued a broader network of defense-industrial and security partnerships beyond its immediate neighborhood, Azerbaijan represents a politically aligned partner with an expanding role in regional defense diplomacy and military-technical cooperation.
Any concrete outcomes from the planned visit, including potential industrial, procurement, or training discussions, remain unclear at this stage.
