European autonomous systems manufacturer TEKEVER has secured a procurement agreement with the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), marking another expansion of the Portuguese-founded company's presence in the American military market.

The purchase, announced on October 26, 2026, follows an extensive program of operational validation, acceptance testing and specialized training, including flight trials conducted at multiple locations.

USSOCOM has acquired unmanned aerial systems designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions in demanding operational environments. TEKEVER has not disclosed the contract value, number of aircraft, specific models or configurations selected by the U.S. military.

The agreement provides TEKEVER with a new procurement reference in the U.S. defense market as the company expands its manufacturing and operational presence across Europe and North America.

U.S. Special Operations Forces Complete Testing

According to TEKEVER, the systems underwent a series of validation and acceptance trials supported by dedicated training activities.

The evaluation program included extensive flight operations intended to assess system performance and operational suitability.

The selected systems combine unmanned aircraft, mission-specific sensors, communications equipment and AI-enabled mission software within a modular architecture.

This configuration is designed to provide commanders with intelligence and surveillance capabilities while allowing equipment and software to be adapted to different operational requirements.

TEKEVER also emphasized its continuous development approach, in which flight data and operator feedback are incorporated into subsequent hardware and software improvements.

Ricardo Mendes, CEO of TEKEVER, described the procurement as an important development in the company's relationship with U.S. special operations forces.

"This procurement represents an important milestone in a relationship that has been built over time through rigorous testing," Mendes said.

The manufacturer did not identify a delivery timetable or disclose whether additional procurement phases are planned.

Earlier AR3 Trials Established USSOCOM Relationship

The latest purchase follows previous cooperation between TEKEVER and USSOCOM involving the company's AR3 unmanned aircraft.

In March 2025, TEKEVER announced that its AR3 system had successfully completed an operational exercise with USSOCOM at Camp Roberts, California.

The exercise assessed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities in an environment involving electronic warfare challenges.

The AR3 family combines fixed-wing flight with optional vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, supporting deployments where conventional runway infrastructure is unavailable.

TEKEVER subsequently introduced the AR3 Evolution, incorporating modifications informed by operational experience, including deployments in Ukraine.

However, the company has not confirmed that USSOCOM's newly purchased systems belong to the AR3 family. The specific platform remains undisclosed.

TEKEVER Expands European Production and Defense Contracts

The U.S. procurement follows a period of major commercial and industrial expansion for TEKEVER.

In September, the company signed a contract worth up to £400 million with the British Ministry of Defence to supply 24 AR5 long-endurance surveillance drones under Project CORVUS.

As previously reported by AdriaDefense, the systems will replace the British Army's Watchkeeper fleet, with deliveries planned through 2029.

The program is expected to support TEKEVER's growing manufacturing, engineering and technical support operations in the United Kingdom.

The company has also expanded into Germany. On October 13, TEKEVER announced the establishment of its German headquarters in Munich, which will serve as its regional hub for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The announcement followed delivery of the company's first unmanned aircraft system to the Bundeswehr, a heavy-lift platform intended for military logistics evaluation.

Germany's interest adds another European military customer to TEKEVER's growing international portfolio.

In Central and Eastern Europe, TEKEVER is pursuing industrial partnerships alongside direct military sales.

In September, AdriaDefense reported on TEKEVER's cooperation agreement with Estonia's Threod Systems, which established a framework for possible joint technology development and autonomous systems programs.

U.S. Expansion Supported by North Carolina Presence

TEKEVER established an office in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in May 2026 to strengthen engagement with U.S. military customers and industry partners.

The location provides proximity to Fort Bragg, a major center for U.S. special operations activities.

The new procurement represents a commercial development for this expansion, although the company has not disclosed whether the USSOCOM systems will be manufactured in Europe, the United States or through a combination of facilities.

TEKEVER operates a vertically integrated business model covering aircraft engineering, manufacturing, mission software, artificial intelligence and operational support.

This structure enables the company to develop and modify its systems internally while maintaining control over critical technologies.

Procurement Adds Momentum Following Major Funding Round

In September, TEKEVER announced a Series D funding round of up to $580 million, valuing the company at approximately $6.4 billion.

The funding round was led by UC Investments and Baillie Gifford, with participation from other institutional investors.

The company has identified industrial expansion, research and development, and international market growth among its priorities. The USSOCOM acquisition adds a U.S. military procurement program to a portfolio that already includes customers and industrial projects across several European markets.

For TEKEVER, the immediate significance is the transition from previous operational demonstrations with U.S. special operations forces to a confirmed purchase. The scale of the contract remains unknown, and the company has not disclosed potential follow-on orders.

Nevertheless, the agreement strengthens the company's position in the transatlantic market for autonomous intelligence and surveillance systems, where military customers are increasingly evaluating technology developed by European manufacturers.
