Ukraine and Germany Launch Brave Germany Defense Tech Initiative
Ukraine and Germany have agreed to establish the Brave Germany program aimed at supporting defense technology development and startup cooperation. The initiative also includes plans for joint production of strike drones with ranges reaching up to 1,500 kilometers.
Ukraine and Germany have signed a letter of intent to launch Brave Germany, a bilateral initiative focused on defense technology cooperation, startup support, and joint industrial projects in the unmanned systems sector. The agreement was signed by Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, according to Ukrainian media reports.
The program is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ defense technology ecosystems while expanding joint production capacity for unmanned aerial systems. Ukrainian officials indicated that the partnership will cover drone systems with operational ranges from below 100 kilometers to approximately 1,500 kilometers. Germany has already started financing medium range and deep strike drone programs intended to support Ukrainian long range strike capabilities against Russian logistics infrastructure.
The agreement reflects broader industrial cooperation already underway between Ukrainian and German defense companies. Several Ukrainian manufacturers have established joint ventures with German partners in recent months as Kyiv seeks to scale production capacity outside Ukraine while maintaining supply for frontline requirements.
Among the projects linked to German industrial cooperation is Airlogix’s planned production facility in Germany for the company’s Anubis and Seth-X strike UAVs. The systems are being developed through cooperation with international partners and are expected to support larger scale serial manufacturing for Ukrainian requirements.
The two countries are also expanding military and technological cooperation beyond drone production. Germany has allocated initial funding to support Ukrainian drone assault units, while Ukrainian instructors have participated in training activities at German military schools, including facilities in Münster and Ingolstadt.
Berlin is additionally expected to assess Ukraine’s DELTA combat management and situational awareness platform during the second half of 2026. Ukrainian officials indicated that the system could potentially be considered for future Bundeswehr use following evaluation.
The Brave Germany initiative adds to a growing network of international defense technology partnerships centered around Ukraine’s wartime innovation sector. Kyiv has increasingly pursued cooperation models that combine battlefield-tested technologies with European industrial capacity and investment support.
