CSG Completes Propellant Technology Transfer to MESKO to Expand Polish 155 mm Ammunition Production
CSG has completed the transfer of propellant production technology to Poland's MESKO, adding a domestic capability for manufacturing a critical component of 155 mm artillery ammunition.
Czech defense group CSG has completed the transfer of propellant production technology to Polish ammunition manufacturer MESKO, enabling the company to manufacture propellant for modular charges used in 155 mm artillery ammunition.
According to CSG, the technology transfer forms part of the industrial cooperation established with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) under Poland's ongoing effort to expand domestic ammunition production. The capability supports the implementation of the December 2023 contract between Poland's Armament Agency and the PGZ-Amunicja consortium for the supply of 155 mm artillery ammunition.
The project included the delivery of technical documentation, assistance with commissioning a new production line, and support during the manufacture of the first production batch. CSG stated that the propellant successfully completed laboratory qualification and live firing trials conducted with the KRAB self-propelled howitzer. Certification testing was carried out by Poland's Military Institute of Armament Technology before the system was approved for serial production.
Production will take place at MESKO's facility in Pionki, providing Poland with a domestic source of propellant for modular charges, one of the key components required for large caliber artillery ammunition.
MESKO indicated that acquiring the manufacturing technology strengthens the company's industrial independence while reducing reliance on external suppliers. The company also said the investment supports the broader objective of establishing a complete national production chain for 155 mm ammunition.
For CSG, the project reflects its strategy of expanding industrial partnerships across Central and Eastern Europe through technology transfers and localized manufacturing. The company stated that strengthening regional production capabilities contributes to more resilient defense supply chains across NATO's eastern flank while creating opportunities for future joint industrial programs.
The latest milestone builds on the long-term cooperation between CSG and PGZ as European countries continue investing in ammunition production capacity to replenish inventories and sustain increased demand for 155 mm artillery ammunition.
