CSG Invests €49.7M to Expand Czech Military Vehicle Production

Czechoslovak Group plans to invest approximately €49.7 million over the next three years to expand military land systems production at the Tatra Defence site in Kopřivnice, Czech Republic. The program will add 14,000 square meters of production space while introducing new manufacturing equipment and supporting further recruitment at the site.
Construction has already started on the first 5,500-square-meter production hall, which will focus primarily on welding. Tatra Defence expects its production section to enter trial operation in December 2026, followed by completion of associated administrative facilities in April 2027.
The investment adds industrial capacity as Czech and other European armed forces continue procurement and modernization programs for military vehicles. It also expands a site that supports production and development of the Pandur 8x8, TITUS 6x6 and TADEAS wheeled armored vehicle families, alongside work for international manufacturers of tracked combat vehicles.
Kopřivnice expansion adds welding, machining and painting capacity
The expansion will proceed in two stages. After the initial 5,500-square-meter hall, CSG plans a second phase adding approximately 8,500 square meters of manufacturing space.
Tatra Defence is preparing project documentation for the second stage, which will primarily support machining and painting operations. The company plans to complete this phase in the first quarter of 2028.
The €49.7 million investment covers more than construction. According to Tatra Defence, spending will also include machine tools, specialized measuring equipment, surface-treatment facilities and other production technologies.
A new three-story administrative building forms another part of the first stage. The facility will provide capacity for more than 150 employees and include a reception area, canteen and employee facilities.
The expansion is being coordinated with development work at Tatra Trucks, which operates within the same Kopřivnice industrial complex. CSG is aligning construction at the two businesses to share available land, infrastructure, utilities and logistics connections.
Tatra Defence plans more than 400 additional hires
Industrial expansion at Kopřivnice is also increasing Tatra Defence's workforce requirements. Companies operating under the Tatra Defence brand currently employ more than 550 people.
The company expects to meet its previously announced target of recruiting up to 300 additional employees by the end of 2026. It plans to recruit more than another 100 people during 2027.
The scale of recruitment indicates that the investment is intended to increase operating output rather than simply modernize existing facilities. Welding, machining, painting and surface-treatment capacity represent core stages in armored and special-purpose vehicle manufacturing.
Development around the site will also include proposed changes near the Tatra Truck Museum and additional parking. CSG is coordinating that element with the City of Kopřivnice, the museum and the Moravian-Silesian Region, with preparatory work expected to start at the end of 2026 following final regional approval.
Czech military vehicle capacity expands alongside regional procurement
Tatra Defence develops, manufactures, overhauls and modernizes armored and special-purpose vehicles using wheeled and tracked chassis. Its portfolio includes work on the Pandur 8x8, TITUS 6x6 and TADEAS, as well as armored cabins and superstructures for Tatra chassis.
The company also participates in manufacturing programs for international producers of tanks and tracked combat vehicles.
