Dutch and Estonian Defence Industry Groups Sign Cooperation MoU
Dutch and Estonian defence industry associations have signed an MoU covering joint testing, B2B matchmaking and cooperation on NATO and EU defense programmes.
The Deep Tech Defence Alliance and the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association have signed a memorandum aimed at expanding cooperation between Dutch and Estonian defense technology companies.
The Netherlands-based Deep Tech Defence Alliance (DTDA) and the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association (EDIA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding during Estonian Defence Week in Tallinn, establishing a framework for closer cooperation between the two countries' defense industries.
The agreement was signed by Kalev Koidumäe, CEO of EDIA, and Bram Alkema, International Envoy of DTDA. The signing was also confirmed by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Estonia.
Under the MoU, the organisations plan to connect complementary industrial and technological capabilities and help companies move from initial contacts toward more structured partnerships.
Planned activities include business-to-business matchmaking, joint testing, cooperation on European Union and NATO programmes, joint events, trade missions and delegation visits.
The agreement reflects growing cooperation between the Dutch and Estonian defence technology ecosystems, with both countries placing increasing emphasis on accelerating the development, testing and deployment of new military technologies.
DTDA represents an industry-led network focused on R&D-intensive defence and dual-use companies, including businesses working in areas such as autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, sensors, quantum technology and advanced materials. The organisation says its goal is to connect emerging technologies with operational requirements and European and NATO programmes.
The signing took place in the presence of senior Dutch military and diplomatic representatives, including Major General Wilfred Rietdijk, Deputy Commander of the 1 German-Netherlands Corps, Major General Gert Jan Kooij, Commander of the Royal Netherlands Army's Land Component Command, Dutch Ambassador to Estonia Sander van der Sluis, and Defence Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Thijs Jansen.
The Netherlands and Estonia also used Estonian Defence Week to discuss testing opportunities for emerging defense technologies and barriers to bringing new capabilities to market. Representatives from industry, the Estonian Ministry of Defence, the Estonian Defence Forces and research organisations participated in the discussions.
No financial value or specific procurement commitments were announced as part of the DTDA-EDIA memorandum.
