HAVELSAN ADVENT Set for Malaysia’s Three New Corvettes

HAVELSAN will equip all three of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s new Littoral Mission Ship Batch 2 corvettes with its ADVENT Combat Management System as the Turkish-built vessels move into system integration and testing.

The final ship in the three-vessel program, Tunku Osman Jewa, was launched at Istanbul Shipyard on August 9, completing the launch phase of the LMS Batch 2 program. The first vessel, Tunku Laksamana Abdul Jalil, entered the water on May 24, followed by Raja Laut on June 7.

With all three ships now launched, work will continue with outfitting, system integration, Harbour Acceptance Trials and Sea Acceptance Trials. HAVELSAN will integrate and verify ADVENT aboard each vessel during this phase.

ADVENT connects onboard sensors, weapons and command-and-control functions to provide operators with a common operational picture. Its network-enabled architecture also supports real-time information sharing between platforms.

According to HAVELSAN, ADVENT is currently in service with the navies of nine countries. The Malaysian program further expands the system’s presence in the Asia-Pacific naval market.

The three approximately 100-meter corvettes are being built in Türkiye by STM under a government-to-government agreement signed in June 2024. The ships are derived from Türkiye’s Ada-class corvette design and displace approximately 2,500 tonnes.

Malaysia has also selected a mix of Turkish and international systems for the ships. HAVELSAN is supplying the combat management and gun fire control systems, while other Turkish companies including ASELSAN and ROKETSAN are providing sensors, electronic warfare equipment and weapons.

The next program milestone will center on completing integration and acceptance testing before the three corvettes enter Royal Malaysian Navy service.
