Polish defense electronics company PIT-RADWAR is investing nearly PLN 90 million net to modernize and expand its production facility in Czernica, Lower Silesia, as Poland scales domestic production for several major air-defense programs.

The company, part of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, signed a nearly PLN 21 million contract with Polish construction company Grupa KDM on October 2 covering the first phase of the project. The work will prepare most of the facility’s production buildings for new machinery and equipment.

PIT-RADWAR said the wider investment is intended to increase production and service capacity required under contracted deliveries for Poland’s Narew, Pilica and SAN air-defense programs.

Czernica already has a specific role in the SAN counter-drone program. Tactical and operational communications components for all 18 planned SAN battery modules are being integrated at the facility, according to PGZ.

The next stage will involve approximately PLN 63.5 million in new production machinery. PIT-RADWAR plans to install more than 100 specialized machines and systems, including CNC milling machines, lathes, presses, climatic chambers and waterjet cutting equipment.

Funding for that part of the modernization has been secured through an implementation agreement connected with deliveries of P-18PL early-warning radars.

A further PLN 4.5 million will fund workshop equipment from PIT-RADWAR’s own resources. The company expects employment at the Czernica site to increase by nearly 50 percent as additional production capabilities are introduced.

Construction work is scheduled for completion in the second half of September 2027. Machinery deliveries are planned for the third and fourth quarters of 2027, with the full investment expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of that year.

The expansion adds to broader investment across Poland’s defense-industrial base as Warsaw builds domestic capacity for layered air and counter-drone defense.
