Saab has received a contract from Poland's State Treasury Armaments Agency to build and deliver three A26 submarines, formalizing Warsaw's selection of the Swedish platform for the Polish Navy's submarine modernization program. The agreement is valued at approximately SEK 47 billion, or about $4.8 billion, according to the company.

The contract covers the construction of three submarines together with a weapons package, as well as training and long term support services. Saab stated that deliveries will take place in stages, with the final submarine scheduled for delivery in 2038.

The order marks the transition from Poland's 2025 supplier selection to a binding procurement agreement under the Orka submarine program. Warsaw selected Saab's A26 design following a competitive process intended to replace the Polish Navy's aging submarine fleet and strengthen underwater capabilities in the Baltic Sea.

The procurement also reinforces defense industrial cooperation between Sweden and Poland. According to the Swedish government, the agreement will deepen bilateral security cooperation, while Sweden is expected to support Poland's submarine capability development through cooperation extending into the next decade.

For Saab, the order represents one of the company's largest naval contracts to date and significantly expands its submarine production backlog as European navies continue to increase investment in maritime capabilities amid a changing regional security environment.
