Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has reached a new stage in its Airbus A330-300 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion program following the completion of primary structural modifications on the first aircraft.

According to IAI President and CEO Boaz Levy, the aircraft has moved off jacks and is entering the ground and flight testing phase. The company stated that the first test flight is expected in the coming weeks, with certification targeted before the end of the year.

The A330-300 conversion program forms part of IAI’s broader expansion in the global freighter aircraft market, where demand for cargo capacity continues to grow amid increasing air logistics requirements.

IAI indicated that the company is positioning itself among a limited number of firms capable of conducting complex widebody passenger-to-freighter conversions for both Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

The company has continued expanding its international conversion infrastructure network to support airlines, leasing firms, and cargo operators seeking additional freighter capacity without acquiring newly built aircraft.

Passenger-to-freighter conversion programs have gained importance across both commercial and strategic airlift sectors as operators seek cost effective solutions to expand cargo fleets and sustain long term logistics capabilities.
