Poland's 14th Anti-Tank Regiment has received additional GLADIUS reconnaissance-strike equipment, including Waran 4×4 armored vehicles fitted with universal drone launchers. The delivery is part of the fourth and final battery-level module ordered under the Polish Armed Forces' original 2022 contract with domestic defense manufacturer WB Group.

The new equipment was delivered to the regiment in Suwałki, northeastern Poland, according to reports published on September 30 and October 1. The unit belongs to the Polish Army's 16th Mechanized Division and operates near the strategically important Suwałki Gap, between Belarus and Russia's Kaliningrad exclave.

GLADIUS combines reconnaissance and precision-strike capabilities

The latest delivery includes Waran armored vehicles equipped with launchers compatible with FT-5 reconnaissance drones and BSP-U strike unmanned aircraft.

Developed by WB Group, GLADIUS integrates reconnaissance, targeting, command and strike capabilities through the Polish TOPAZ integrated combat management system.

The FT-5 family provides reconnaissance using different sensor configurations, including electro-optical imaging, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electronic intelligence (ELINT). The aircraft can support target detection and tracking before strike missions are assigned to other elements of the system.

The BSP-U serves as the system's strike component and can carry different types of warheads, including fragmentation and armor-piercing variants. According to WB Group, the system's line-of-sight communications range exceeds 100 kilometers.

In addition to the Waran-based launchers, a GLADIUS battery includes command vehicles, ammunition vehicles and technical support platforms.

Poland expands GLADIUS procurement through 2030

Poland signed its original GLADIUS agreement with WB Electronics, the principal company within WB Group, on May 6, 2022. The contract, valued at approximately PLN 2 billion, covers four battery-level modules and associated logistics and training support.

Deliveries began in December 2022. The 14th Anti-Tank Regiment received its first GLADIUS equipment in December 2025, while other systems were assigned to Polish artillery formations.

The latest delivery adds further equipment to the regiment under the original procurement program.

Poland has since committed to a much larger expansion. On May 28, 2026, the Polish Armaments Agency signed three additional unmanned systems contracts with WB Group, including an order for 12 further GLADIUS battery-level modules.

The new modules are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2030, bringing Poland's total GLADIUS orders under the two contracts to 16 battery-level modules. The wider procurement also covers WARMATE loitering munitions and FLYEYE reconnaissance drones and is supported by the European Union's Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument.

WB Group is also developing the next generation of the system. As previously reported by AdriaDefense, the company has presented GLADIUS 2, a jet-powered strike platform with a reported range of approximately 300 kilometers.

The latest delivery to the 14th Anti-Tank Regiment concerns the existing GLADIUS system, not the new GLADIUS 2 platform. The Polish Armed Forces have not disclosed the exact number of vehicles or unmanned aircraft included in this shipment.
