U.S. maritime autonomy company Saildrone is recruiting a senior business development executive for its European operations, as the company expands its presence across Germany and Eastern Europe.
The position, advertised as Sales & Business Development Director for Defense & Maritime Security, is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and focuses on developing opportunities with European defense ministries, naval forces, government agencies, and industrial partners.
Kim Løye Sørensen, Head of Business Development at Saildrone Europe, announced the recruitment on LinkedIn, confirming that additional positions are expected as the company continues expanding its European operations.
The role: Germany and Eastern Europe
The successful candidate will lead Saildrone's business development activities in Germany while supporting selected strategic opportunities across Eastern Europe. Responsibilities include developing customer relationships, identifying procurement opportunities, managing defense sales pipelines, negotiating contracts, and supporting industrial cooperation.
Applicants are expected to have at least eight years of experience in defense, maritime, aerospace, security, or government sales, alongside an established network within Germany's defense industry.
The role also requires knowledge of European defense procurement, the ability to engage senior military and government officials, willingness to travel extensively, and eligibility for security clearance in Germany.
Supporting Saildrone's European expansion
The recruitment follows Saildrone's expansion of its European headquarters in Copenhagen and plans to establish manufacturing operations in the Netherlands, Norway, and Poland.
As previously reported by AdriaDefense, the company's European industrial strategy is intended to strengthen regional production, operational support, and deployment capabilities for its unmanned surface vehicles.
Saildrone's growing European activities also include a year-long maritime surveillance mission announced with Sweden on October 26, involving four Voyager unmanned surface vehicles operating in the Baltic Sea.
